Depending on the number of people you cook for, you can get these individually or in a set combination. These are available in stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium or copper. It is also advisable to get a non-stick frying pan for cooking eggs, pancakes, and other quick to fry dishes. You will need a chef's knife, a butcher knife, a paring knife and a few other regular and serrated types for different cutting purposes. Usually, they come complete in a set with a pair of kitchen scissors which also come quite handy. Can and bottle opener, peeler, mixing bowls and cheese grater: These are items you usually miss out but realize how important they can get when you need them. Have at least one plus a spare in your kitchen inventory. Colander and sieves: These two items are much needed for washing fruits and vegetables, draining pasta and fried foods, and for baking purposes. Potholders and Kitchen Towels: You'll use a lot of these with your daily cooking activities so have at least 2 or 3 potholders and about a dozen kitchen towels.
